As we step into 2025, I’ve been reflecting on everything 2024 brought—the wins, the challenges, and the lessons. It wasn’t a year of big, flashy breakthroughs, but rather one where consistent, daily habits made all the difference. These small actions, repeated day in and day out, laid the groundwork for a year full of focus, energy, and growth.
Now, as we plan for the months ahead, I want to share the habits that helped me crush 2024. My hope is that they might inspire you to build your own foundation for a successful and fulfilling year.
Here are the top habits and actions that made 2024 a year of growth, health, and focus:
- Going to Bed Early by 8:30 PM: This one habit transformed my energy and productivity. By going to bed early, I gave my body the rest it needed to recover fully. Quality sleep improved my mood, mental clarity, and physical health. When you wake up well-rested, you’re ready to conquer the day instead of dragging through it. The more I learn about the habits of the top 0.1% of performers, the more I understand how vital sleep and proper sleep hygiene are to their success.
- Waking Up at 4 AM: The quiet of the early morning is unmatched. No distractions, no emails, just pure, uninterrupted time to focus on myself. Whether it was working out, meditating, or reading, those hours became the foundation of my day. Waking up early gave me a head start, a sense of accomplishment, and control over my time. Not to mention a psychological advantage.
- Daily Cold Plunges and Weekly Sauna Sessions: Cold plunges became a daily ritual that sharpened my mind and boosted my resilience. There’s something about starting your day by confronting discomfort—it sets the tone for tackling challenges head-on. Adding a weekly sauna session helped with recovery, relaxation, and overall well-being.
- Reading 30 Minutes Every Day: This habit alone expanded my perspective and knowledge more than I could have imagined. I combined YouTube, podcasts, and Audible, often listening at 1.5x speed, in traffic, while running errands, to absorb information efficiently. By the end of the year, I had consumed over 200 books. The benefits? Improved mental acuity, new ideas, and a greater ability to connect with others.
- Meditating and Practicing Mindfulness: Mindfulness became a daily practice. Whether it was focusing on my surroundings, recognizing my triggers, or simply taking a few minutes to breathe, meditation improved my awareness and emotional control. It helped me stay present and manage stress effectively. This habit set the foundation for being present and mindful during stressful situations during the year.
- Actively Pruning Media Consumption and Relationships: What we consume shapes us. I became strict about the media I engaged with and the people I spent time around. By cutting out negativity, drama, and distractions, not responding to frivolous texts and emails, I created space for positivity and growth. This made a noticeable difference in my mental clarity and overall happiness. Not to mention helping with boundary setting.
- Being Strict About Nutrition: Instead of living to eat, I changed to eating to live. I focused on fueling my body with whole, nutrient-dense foods: eggs, chicken, tuna, fish, turkey, nuts, salads, and fresh juices. Intermittent fasting, with midday sprints and a 24-hour fast once a week, helped me maintain energy and focus. 1L of water per day adding ginger, lemon, lime. Feeling lighter, sharper, faster, leaner helped me perform at my best. By avoiding eating out too often, I saved money and felt healthier—losing 16 pounds in the process. Ironically, the more I ran, the more I gained weight, emphasizing the importance of nutrition.
- Joining a Yoga Studio: One of the best decisions I made in 2024 was joining a yoga studio to supplement my running. At first, I thought yoga might just be a nice addition to my fitness routine—a way to stretch and relax. But it quickly became much more than that. Yoga taught me to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with my body in a way I hadn’t before. The physical benefits were immediate—improved flexibility, better posture, and less tension in my back and shoulders. But the mental and emotional benefits were what truly surprised me. If you’re looking for a habit to add in 2025, I can’t recommend this one enough.
- Starting Resolutions in November and December: This was a game-changer. Instead of waiting for January, I started planning and implementing my goals before the year ended. It gave me a head start, and by the time the New Year began, I was already in a positive rhythm.
Why These Habits Worked Each of these habits put me into a positive, healthy state. Together, they enhanced my mental acuity, focus, energy, memory, and physical well-being. They weren’t resolutions tied to a single season—they became part of my life.
What I’m Working on in 2025: While 2024 was about building powerful habits, 2025 is about letting go. Letting go of judgment. Letting go of ego. Making peace with the past. Holding on to negative emotions, past emotional baggage, or grudges is a waste of mental energy and space. My goal for this year is to release what no longer serves me and make room for growth, clarity, and peace.
The New Year isn’t just a fresh start—it’s an opportunity to continue building on what works and refine what doesn’t. What habits will you commit to this year? Let me know—I’d love to hear about them.
Here’s to consistency, growth, and crushing 2025!
